Safety Plan/Response to COVID-19

What are we doing at Dance-N-Groove to keep your dancer and family safe?

We understand that everyone's comfort levels in this time is different.  We are ready to meet you where you are.  All our class are hybrid classes so dancers may take either in person or virtually from the comfort of  your own home.

Guidelines for In Person Classes:

  • Get Dressed/Ready: Follow dress code and remember legs must be covered with tights; Cover feet- Correct dance shoes must be worn in studio;  Hair- must be in a bun or tight ponytail.  We do not want hands traveling toward faces for any reasons.

  • Our cubby/changing room and waiting room is be closed at this time.  The waiting room will only be open for parents making payments or dance wear appointments.

  • Everyone over the age of 10 will be required to wear a mask upon entering and exiting the studio per the Governors Mandate.

  • Teachers and Students will be allowed to remove masks to dance once they are settled in their 'dance space'.

  • Dancers will always remain 6 feet apart  while they are in dance class.  This will be done by giving each dancer a designated box to dance in.  When we are doing across the floor work or barre work, students will remain 6 ft apart as we transition across the floor.

  • Hand sanitizer will continue to be available and used in each dance room.  A Sanitation Station is available as you first walk in.

  • Teachers and staff will be the only ones allowed to open/close doors to help eliminate what students touch throughout class.

  • All Staff will self-evaluate prior to arriving  each day by taking their temperature and if they are feeling ill staying home.

Moving to Virtual Dance Classes

If at any time, it is unsafe to hold in person classes we will move to an online class format.  We will communicate any changes via email and our Private Facebook Families Group.   All dancers are welcome to join their class virtually if they feel more comfortable doing so.

PROPS- new this year, we are asking our dancers to purchase a personal prop bag.  This bag will include all the props we normally use throughout the year.  All other props will be sanitized after every use.

Pick Up & Drop Off Procedures

  • Dancers will line up on the sidewalk outside the studio until a staff member welcomes them inside.  Dancers will wait on a social  distancing markers until the teacher invites them into the dance room.

  • Once dancers enter the dance room, dancers will proceed to their dance space to put on shoes.  Dancers will have  designated spot for their dance bags as well.

  • At the end of class, dancers will collect their belongings one at a time and will wait on their socially distancing markers in the waiting room/hallway.

  • A Staff member will then stand at the door and call students one at a time to leave as they see their ride.

  • We ask parents to stand on the sidewalk so we can see parents.

  • To allow our staff time to thoroughly disinfect the studio- students will not be allowed into the studio until their class time and we will begin the pickup procedure 5 minutes before the end of the stated class.  Please arrive on time.  Thank you.

Cleaning Procedures

We pride ourselves on always keeping  our studio clean and safe.  We have enhanced our cleaning procedures which include sanitizing between classes and mopping daily.

Parent Observation

We know that you love to watch your dancer and see all they have learned.  We also understand that new parents (especially of our youngest dancers) want to know that their dancer is taken care of.  We are currently modifying our Observation policy and weeks and will communicate those as we fine tune them.

Sick Policy

Colds, flu, and other contagious diseases occur frequently and spread easily among children. To help protect your own child’s health and to minimize the possibility of contagion, please keep your child at home if you observe any of the following symptoms:

  • Nasal discharge that is green or yellow

  • Complaints of ear pain

  • Consistent cough

  • Severe sore throat

  • Eyes that are pink, burning, itching, or producing discharge

  • Diarrhea or vomiting

  • Fever

  • Chills

  • Shortness of Breath

  • Loss of Taste or Smell

If these symptoms or other conditions that are deemed contagious are observed in your child during class, you will be called to pick up your child immediately.

If you need to miss class for whatever reason, we will work with you to attend  a virtual make-up class.  This may include either attending a hybrid class from home or watching a pre-recorded class at your convenience.

Dance-N-Groove reserves the right to change the Policies and Rules to meet local, county and state regulations for the safety and health of our dancers at any time throughout the dance year.  Guidelines and rules posted at the entrance supersede any rules in our Policies & Rules Handbook.  We will also post updated policies on this page.
